Used warehouse tent: what to check and when new is better

Rather than a used warehouse tent, we recommend buying a new one, mainly for safety, reliability, flexibility and long-term value. With a used tent, the purchase price is not the only thing that matters: so do its actual condition, its history of use and whether it suits the new site.

In short

  • A used tent is cheaper to buy, but wear, missing documentation and adaptations bring extra costs.
  • Check the structure, the PVC membrane, all the components and the documentation.
  • We adapt a new tent to your dimensions, site and use, with documentation and predictable costs.
  • A new tent is also bolted together, so you can move it later.

What should you check on a used warehouse tent?

  • The structure: corrosion, bent profiles and damaged joints.
  • The PVC membrane: tears, wear and the condition at the fixing points.
  • Completeness: whether all the components, anchor plates and bolts are there.
  • The documentation: whether there is documentation for erecting it as a minor building (nezahtevni objekt under Slovenian law).
  • Suitability for the site: whether the tent is designed for the snow and wind loads at the new location.

What extra costs should you expect?

With a used tent, wear, missing documentation and necessary adaptations can all bring extra costs. On top of that come dismantling, transport and re-erection. Add these costs to the purchase price before you compare it with the price of a new tent.

Why do we recommend a new warehouse tent?

A new warehouse tent can be adapted to your dimensions, site and intended use, with the right equipment chosen from the start. It gives us better control over the condition of the materials, proper technical documentation and more predictable costs.

Although the initial investment may be higher, a new tent is often the more reliable and economical solution in the long run than a used warehouse tent, where wear, missing documentation and necessary adaptations can bring extra costs. A standard warehouse tent costs from about €110 per m²; read more in our article warehouse tent price.

A new tent can still be moved later

Our RG tent is assembled entirely with bolts, so it can be fully dismantled and moved. If your site changes later, you move it, together with all the documentation it had from the start. See the tents we have built on the warehouse tents page.
