The quarantine greenhouse for the National Institute of Biology (NIB) in Ljubljana is a research facility with eight chambers, in which the climate conditions can be set for each chamber separately. Here we show how it is built and what is automated inside it.
In short
- Steel structure with an aluminium superstructure of glazing profiles and triple safety glazing.
- Eight chambers, each with its own custom climate settings.
- Heating, cooling, humidification, dehumidification, grow lights, shading and air exchange are run by a central control system.

How is the quarantine greenhouse built?
The load-bearing structure of the quarantine greenhouse is steel, with an aluminium superstructure of glazing profiles mounted on it. The glazing is triple safety glass. The greenhouse is divided into eight chambers.
What is automated in the quarantine greenhouse?
Each chamber has its own climate conditions. All the equipment is run by a central control system:
- heating and cooling,
- humidification and dehumidification,
- grow lights with a levelling system,
- brise-soleil shading louvres,
- air exchange with absolute filters.
