In Slovenia, you generally need a building permit for steel buildings, tents and greenhouses; without one, you can only build simple structures. The documentation required depends on the type and size of the building. Below is a general overview; we check what applies to your building and plot when we prepare the documentation.
In short
- A building permit is required for all buildings except simple structures.
- A building's category depends on its size and use.
- Our greenhouses, glasshouses and tents come with the documentation for a minor building.
- For steel buildings we prepare the DGD documentation and manage the whole procedure.
- We take care of the permit: if one is needed, we obtain it; if not, we put the building up without one.

When do you need a building permit for steel buildings?
The Slovenian Building Act classifies buildings as complex, less complex, minor (nezahtevni) and simple (enostavni). A building permit is required for any new building except simple structures. Which category your building falls into depends on its type and size.
Whatever the category, construction must comply with the municipal spatial plan, which sets out what may be built on the plot and how.
Tents, greenhouses and glasshouses
Our warehouse tents, greenhouses and glasshouses come with all the documentation needed to erect a minor building. For minor buildings we prepare the permit documentation for a minor building (DNZO) and obtain the permit for you as well. If the building does not need a permit, we put it up without one.
Design and engineering
More on thisBuilding permit for a prefabricated steel building
For a prefabricated steel building we prepare the building permit documentation (DGD), used to obtain the consents and the building permit. Where design and other conditions from the consenting authorities are needed, we obtain them on the basis of a concept design (IZP). This is followed by the detailed design for construction (PZI), which is a mandatory attachment to the notice of commencement of construction.
After construction: the occupancy permit
After construction we prepare the as-built documentation (PID). It is used to obtain the occupancy permit, to register the building and for its use and maintenance.
How can we help?
We produce the complete design documentation for you and manage the entire administrative procedure through to the occupancy permit. All the types of documentation are described on the design and engineering page. If you are not sure whether your building needs a permit, send us an inquiry with a description of the building and the site.
